This program offers free programs and events for children and families at 33 county locations. A study conducted in 174 neighborhood parks found that marketing, programming, and active design can generate up to 63% more hours of physical activity per week in parks. This is why Orange County launched its pilot program “Active Parks, Healthy People” to offer programs in parks and increase physical activity for health and well-being. The county's extensive regional park system is comprised of 39,000 acres spread over 25 urban and natural parks.
One of its most popular historic destinations is Dripping Cave, a large sandstone rock shelter once used by Native Americans. Aliso and Wood Canyons Natural Park is part of this system and has miles of official trails and several streams.
