In 2010, Orange County was ranked #3 in the highest number of teen births in all of California. The teen pregnancy prevention focus group is working with local schools and organizations to educate teens about pregnancy prevention. This education includes the activation of a local chapter of FRISTERS in conjunction with Crossroads Community Church, which meets weekly to support new teenage moms.
With our focus on Teen Pregnancy Prevention, we were able to hold parenting classes once a week for 52 weeks. Teen mothers were fed, babies were cared for while mothers were instructed in various areas of concern: child care, nutrition, completing their education, getting a job, avoiding and breaking the teen pregnancy cycle. (serviced 31 mothers and approx 40 babies)
