The Move More, Eat Healthy La Habra Campaign recognizes that healthy eating and regular physical activity are key ingredients to good health at any age. They may lower your risk for heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer and other chronic diseases.
More than one third of the children and adolescents in Orange County are overweight or obese. Our goal is to create a healthy La Habra where all residents have opportunities to be physically active, access to reliable nutrition education and healthy, affordable foods where all residents can prosper.
Currently we are holding student nutrition and fitness classes at our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm. The title of the program is “Wellness and Fitness Focus Group: Combating Childhood Obesity in La Habra“. It is conducted and participated in 9 health and wellness fairs within the community. There are 9 classes (8 weeks each) offering parents nutrition and health classes while offering their children fitness training.
The Collaborative joined the La Habra City government in Introducing the Move More Eat Healthy Program to the community. We helped the community become a HEAL City. We serviced an average of 20 people per nutrition class. We estimate there were well over 10,000 people who attended our health fairs.
